Help Sound not coming through speaker?

I just bought this phone, haven't had it but about an hour or so, but I've noticed that the sound is ONLY coming from the earpiece and not from the speaker on the back. I'm new to HTC so I'm not sure if there is an option to switch the sound to the back speaker or not. I really hope this isn't a defection, any insight on this would be appreciated.

Listen to a voice mail all the way through with the speker ticked on... Play the voicemail again, it might work... This is what others have reported with the same problem

Actually, I checked out a One X thread while Googling a solution and it seems that that the entire HTC One line of phones have experienced this problem at one time or another.

I solved it by plugging in my headphones and then unplugging them and it worked. I hope I don't have to repeat this process after a reboot or something, that wouldn't sit well with me.

I had the same problem when I would check my voice mail via the app. I went in the settings and put to auto speakerphone when listening. No problems anymore...just have to switch it to esrpiece when listening.
