Sound Settings Inconsistant

Jaums

Newbie
I assume the 'Sound' settings under the app 'settings' on my Verizon Pantech Breakout are actually Android settings?

Issue: I set 'audible touch tones' to ON and 'audible selection' to OFF, but about half the time I don't hear touch tones when dialing a call and about 3/4 of the time I do get selection tones when typing an email or text message [I do get a quick vibration--haptic feedback is ON].

Am I not understanding what these settings are?

Thanks!

Yes, those are the Android settings. And I have the same setup (Touch tones > Soft and Audible tones turned off) and I don't have a issue with it. But I have a Evo 3D, not a Breakout.

To fix it, you could try pulling out the battery (or shutting the device fully off if you can't remove the battery) for a minute and rebooting to see if that fixes it. Another option is a factory reset (make sure to backup anything important before doing so). If that doesn't do it, remove your SD card (if you have one) and reboot to see if that is the cause.

Last, you could see if there is a firmware flash file to reset your phone to complete stock condition. For other devices, this is called a RUU, Odin, SBF, etc. Or you can go back to your carrier's store and see if their display model does the same thing. If it doesn't, then you know it's your phone that is defective.
