I received my nexus 5 and am really impressed except for the volume, the ringing and notification sounds can barely be heard. I downloaded an app to put in louder sounds. It worked for the ringtone but not the notifications. When I go into the settings it says that it has been changed to the louder tone but it hasn't. Any solutions as it a real pain.

I thought all of the notification sounds that came on the phone were on the quiet side. I downloaded a few using Zedge and those are louder. I see you said you had downloaded an app - did you use Zedge, or something else?

I used a couple of apps eventually got it to work by turning on and off the phone. The app I used is called loud ringtones
