Link not working and pretty stoked about wanting to try it.

Here:www.waywardpilgrim.net/android/tools/Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v13.zip

and:www.waywardpilgrim.net/android/tools/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.zip

First, install the drivers and make sure you have a good USB cable.
Next, extract the .zip and run the RunMe.bat as administrator with the device UNPLUGGED
The command prompt will tell you when to plug the device in. It should be automatic beyond that point with plenty of output from the command prompt. You may have to run it a few times for it to stick.

I take it as long as i can transfer from and to and windows installed drivers then its okay for phone?

I'm not sure I understand. If you are asking "If I can transfer data between my phone and computer, do I have sufficient drivers installed to do this?" My answer is no. The drivers are genuine Samsung drivers, so there is no threat, but they are recommended for this to be able to work. If you are asking something else, please clarify.

you caught it right on the head, my apologies about that, and i've done it three times already, it keeps saying permission denied (are you root) after rebooting and saying going to copy files to its place???

Can you try to install a root app, or root checker just to be sure. This tool is known to work on Samsung devices. I will look into it to see if I am missing something. Thanks for trying.

im not too familar with adb and all that, but i tried the push command for su binary and pushing busybox and everything that i try to push comes up cannot stat:

Install Superuser, NOT SuperSU, from the market. It seems like, if there were no other errors, and you did get past the Backup Now part and reboots, the files should be in place.

when going to put the files in place is when the permission denied error pops up saying are you root? or something like that. Its something with the placing of the su binary and busybox.

If you have a file manager that allows you to see the root of the device, can you look for a /data/local.prop file?

EDIT: if you join the IRC channel. this can go much quicker.

ill try and get it on my phone if there is an irc for the phone. Im currently at work doing this shit lol, i really want root.

just come on later bro. I'll be around for 6 more hours, then the kids to bed, then back on for a few hours. In the meantime, I just need to see if we can find a way to leverage this exploit onto more devices.

nope small progress here and there, just trial and error. Trying to get more devs to figure it out, it seems the exploit command doesn't quite work with this phone, so the fakebackup.ab isn't going to progress.

if anyone owns this device, and is willing to test, we need some partition dumps to stabilize the recovery. If there is time, we can get a system image and create an ODIN flashable stock rooted ROM. Sound good? Let's do it!
