Spam or what?

Lighess

Lurker
Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me, just recently my phone started to display spam sometimes when I unlock it, I don't even go into an app when it kind of freezes and then get some "download recommendation" most of the times from clash of clans, please, help me on how to get rid of this, is extremely annoying..

Boot into SAFE MODE & one-by-one,enable your apps until the pop-up appears.
Then, once the offending pop-up appears you have your culprit.
Short of rooting to gain control of app permissions &/or installing a pop-up/ad blocker, your only choice is to uninstall the offending app.
Another possibility is you have a free app installed & by going pro (paid version) the pop-ups/ads may disappear.

OK,seems I was mistaken a bit on Safe Mode.
As you stated, user installed apps are disabled while in Safe Mode.
If you've determined the problem disappeared while in Safe Mode, then the issue has been narrowed down to one of your user-installed apps.
Disable Safe Mode by re-booting your device normally, then if the problem arises, you'll need to uninstall your user-installed apps one at a time until the problem vanishes. Then you have your culprit.

My apologies for the misleading/mistaken way to use Safe Mode,it's been a while since I've actually had to use it & got a little fuzzy on the methodology.;)

thank you, it does seem like the problem ceased, then i have no choice but to uninstall my apps one by one until the spam ceases..

Sorry you have to go through all of that to find the culprit.Hopefully you can narrow it down to a few suspects....

BTW,WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS Lighess!

started with most recent installed app first, some launchers will even let you sort by date installed, which is good especially if this recently started and you are set to receive automatic updates. could easily be an app that you've had forever, but the developer included this in the latest update
