Spam

hi ALL
With my HTC desire HD i receive my pop email, my hosting provider has its own spam filter and when they catch spam the add a prefix to de email's subject like *****SPAM*****, what i usually do I program my email clients in my different computers to filter emails with that prefix just in case their own spam filter didn't catch the spam. Now, the Desire HD's mail app doesn't have spam filter and cannot filter messages so my inbox is totally full of spam all the time...., so disappointed, is there a solution for this?.

p.s.: i temporarily told the hosting provider's spam filter to delete those emails, but of course that's not the solution due the possible loss of not spam email.

Does your email host have the ability to filter those messages on the server? My email account allows this (using Outlook), so I don't see those messages unless I actually go to that folder. This is the best solution also because I can choose to not sync that folder and it won't waste my data plan or battery downloading pointless messages.

The other option is to use Gmail to check your other email accounts. You can set that up and use Gmail's superior (in my opinion) filtering and labeling options.

I don't know of any apps that include this functionality, and I'm not sure why they would. It is always better to filter messages before they get to your device.

Actually I don't know exactly how it works, I found the option to filter messages in the server but only in the webmail, not in the main settings windows, i guess pop3 works independently on how I set up my webmail app, beside I don't know how to choose folders to sync in my desire hd, can I?. The thing is I was trying to use the mail client as it should be, not what everybody does which is using Gmail because they don't have a decent mail client in their phones, i think it's time already....

You'll have very limited options with a POP account. Best bet is to filter through another service (like gmail). There's no folder sync (or any sync) with a POP account. It's a limitation of the POP protocol.

Your problem is really the mail server IMO. POP is old tech.

But I'm talking about the mail client, not the pop technology, besides the technology you use to download your messages you have your mail client to classify and filter, that's what any mail client does, and android's doesn't.

It does. Just make your email forwarded to GMail and there you can create as many rules and filters as you want. Then on your phone you can create shortcuts to labels with filters applied, adjust notifications etc. GMail is the native Android app and only that should be referred to as Android's email. For everything else you have a choice of apps in the Market that will do what you want either for free or for a small fee.

But then the mail app isn't Android's (Desire HD)??, or is it HTC??
To begin with, the Gmail app isn't sending messages at all, don't know what's wrong.
Second, I don't see the possibility where I can change the settings to make it send emails and the one who receive it sees as I sent it from my main address (not the gamil but my own domain address), so if he replies it comes to my main address, I have it like this in my computer but cannot find it in the Gmail Android's app, without this gmail app is totally useless for me, hundreds of people has my main address which belong to my website, let them receive emails from me from another address isn't something I want to do.

Edit: I'm sorry, the phone was sending the messages but they arrived 5 hours later, probably because of syncing problems. And the best, when they arrived i could see my main address in the sender, so, it's reading the settings of the web gmail. Hurra!!. Anyway, honestly, i would like to have the mail app working better, being able to create filters and/or having a spam filter.
