Help Specific ringtone for an email address that sends messages as texts

Hi all!

I'm trying to assign a specific ringtone to an email address contact on my Samsung Rugby Pro. Everything looks right in the settings for it but when I get a message from this contact the phone plays my default notification tone that I use for everyone else. I think the phone's having a problem because it's an email address that sends MMS messages to my phone number instead of my email.

Does anyone know how I can get this email address to have a different ringtone than my default notification tone?

Well if they are arriving as MMS messages surely you want to set a custom ringtone for them in your messaging app?

If the message app you are using doesn't have that option, many 3rd party ones in the Play Store do.

I don't have that option. But I don't want this alert every time I get an MMS--only from this particular email address. I volunteer with a fire department and that's how we get dispatched in lieu of having pagers.

With an app which does have the option you could set that tone for just that one contact. With my message preferred app (Textra) you set this by viewing the list of threads, pressing and holding the one you want to select them, then pressing the 3 dot "settings" button and selecting "notifications". Did you try looking at the app's settings when viewing that particular message thread, just in case there is the option to change the notification for the one contact there?

I did, I'd been using the stock messaging app--I'll look into textra. Thanks!
