Help speech text msg entering name in msg field

Hi, I'm new to this Xperia phone and to this forum site. I used to own a BB so it's quite a different change.

I have the lt30a on Rogers. I have only had the phone for a few days so it's possible I'm doing something wrong. I just tried the speech to txt, when I say who I want to send to and what I want in the msg (just like on the tutorial youtube vid) .. Everything I say goes in the msg field, including the name of who I am writing the txt to.

For example: "send txt to Maria"

To:
Message: to Maria

I've tried all different phrases, nothing can get a recipient entered, am I doing anything wrong, is this a known concern?
