Speech-to-text function

Habanero

Newbie
I happen to use this quite a bit. Most people may not use this feature but I thought I'd post this anyway.

I noticed that this function did not work near as well on the S8+ vs. my Note 3. It wasn't as polished and didn't offer the same nice features. It honestly wass a hassle to use. I looked at the settings when I first got the phone but saw nothing that would change it. So I looked again this morning. General Management, Language and Input, Virtual Keyboard, Manage Keyboards. Then de-select Samsung Voice Input. When I firest looked at these settings, I just looked at the setting right above it called Google Voice Typing which was selected (keep that one selected). De-selecting the Samsung Voice Input did the trick.

Anyway, much better now!

Wow, I've used the speech-to-text a bit now since I got rid of the Samsung version. Big difference in many areas! Response time, ease of use, accuracy, and user friendliness is much better than the Samsung version. I hope when that Bixby Voice comes out that it is refined and not like their version of the speech-to-text. Maybe that's why it was delayed.

Well, now it seems that disabling the Samsung Voice Input is only temporary. Every few hours it reverts back to it. It's ticking me off. It's 6 taps in order to disable it again. So it seems Samsung really wants you to use it but it sucks. So I hope they correct this or I will be getting rid of this phone fast. I'm not impressed. Of course, I could be missing something.....
