Speed/Reception improvements since Nov 1st?

Has anyone seen a new profile update automatically hit their phone in the last few days, and if so, have you seen improvements in speed/reception?

I'm curious if there is any basis to this story or if it's just speculation.

Nope, I have not seen any updates of any kind.

There has been no update in 55127 nor change in 3G speed.

Some folks in the Evo 3D forum are saying they got a profile update and their 3G speeds have improved.

If so, it appears to either be a coincidence or placebo.

My coworker who has the Evo 3D told me he had experienced the update.

I did not, with my Epic4GT.

Maybe profile updates are device specific...

Edit: I did a bit more digging, sounds like profile re-registers the phone on sprints network. I'm wondering if it also updates network settings on the device. I'm having a hard time finding out much info on what all happens during a profile update.

Amazing improvement is was always good like 1.1mbps on 3g ran two test got 2.46 and 2.37mbps

interesting... I get acceptable 3G speeds in Phx, but nothing to write home about. Improvements are definitely necessary, but data speeds are still usable without any major frustration. However, when I tether my phone to my laptop, the data speeds are great... easily clearing 1 meg/sec down every time on 3G. Why would the phone be so much slower than while tethered? I would like faster data speeds while using the phone, but tonight, I tethered my phone to my computer just to test the internet experience, and it was Great! glad its the case, but weird.

yes i have been noticing and increase in browsing speed. it started yesterday. hope it stays that way.

well, Sprint's Network Vision appears to be a "go." So reports of data speed improvements starting to show up on the boards/forums will not surprise me. I've heard of them happening already... and should continue over the next year or so. I really believe that good things are on the way regarding Sprint's network. Sprint appears to be pretty sincere and dedicated to the Network Vision upgrades. Its just a matter of time... there is alot to look forward to as Sprint customer over the next 4 to 12 months. Obviously, we already have a network with good coverage and the best value; now, we've got good/unlimited data speeds on the way next year. Good and encouraging news!

I too have noticed increase signal strength the last week or so. I live on the edge of 3g network (no 4g here) with 1-2 signal bars, maybe 3 every once in awhile. Now getting consist 3-4 bars with faster Internet connections. Currently have BB 8530, but moving next week to a SG2ET4G. Sprint has definitely ramped up their network. Similar comments in other forums. Finally---wishing for 4G, however.......

Updated profile @10:30am 11/4, ran Speedtest.
3g; 0.66 Mbps down, 0.50 up, 83ms ping
Currently out of town, no 4g signal, will update when 4g available.

This may be slightly off topic, but certainly has to do with Sprint's network speeds. I have noticed that when I tether my phone to my computer, that data speeds are significantly faster... often 3 or 4 x what I get when using the speedtest app on the phone. Any ideas on why this would be the case? Thx.
