What? I'm still getting same speed...

With Virgin Mobile's 3G service, you can expect wild variations in your data throughput speeds. Some of them depend on your location, time of day, but mostly over the past months I've found it's dependent on Virgin Mobile's service, and likely the present load on the tower/node to which you are connected.

For example, connected to a tower just 100 yards from my home, I get the following results at different times of the day (this is with 2 or 3 bars of service, inside the home):

7:30 am 1279kbps down, 774kbps up, 337ms latency
12:14 pm 136kbps down, 375kbps up, 853ms latency

I've found that in the Milwaukee area, I can usually expect to get anywhere between 60 and 200 kbps up or down at any given moment in time, which pretty much takes care of anything that I need the phone to do.

breaking 2 mb isnt unheard of i've done it myself but only early morning.it helps that i have a cell tower around 3 blocks away.i just wish it would stay connected to that one instead of spending the majority of times connected to other ones that are 12 blocks away.and those great speeds i get in the morning means nothing to me since i
cant even stream crackle in primetime without it constantly buffering

2.07mbps sounds like you were on WIFI and not 3g.... Or you are one lucky person.

I know people who average 2.6mbps on iPhone 4, 2 mbps isn't rare in the 3G world.

I remember when the Indulge 4G came out, people in Florida were 4mbps and up. But the phone and the service became inconsistent. I'm gathering as much info as possible because I'm gonna switch to VM and cancel my mPCS.

When you start getting .09mbps up and down with an Optimus M, it makes you hate life. If VM can give me 1.00 mbps on average, I'll be happy.

Yes on a true contract network you can get above and beyond 2.0 mbps, but virgin mobiles data is routed through proxies to a server in kansas, getting speeds at 1.5 or above you will be lucky, but 2.0 is near impossible.i did hit 1.4 only once standing within eye sight of a tower with full bars on my phone.note he claims only 1 bar that should have raised suspicion right there, since he posted it he has not come back to defend his claims, there was another post by a user months ago claiming he overclocked a V to 1.0 GHZ and never posted again.maybe i will post that i walked on water.

At my house I average 0-1 bars and my download speed is normally between .05 and .26Mbps.

When I'm out and about in central Florida, I normally have 2-3 bars, and my download speed is .6Mbps to 1.38Mbps.

So at home I use wifi, where I get 8.2Mbps download. And then I get sad when I'm out roaming. But it's getting the job done for $25 a month.

I've gotten 2.2mbps down,1mbps up in parma,oh on several occasions,it depends on the specific tower, the speed doesnt really fluctuate that much by signal level. I get that standing outside with 4/4 bars on the optimus v running cm7,same in the basement with 1/4 bars. That is at a family member's house,at my house in westland,mi I average 300kbps down,600kbps up,but I've seen it show -0kbps down and 300kbps up. virgin mobile's network is VERY tower backhaul dependent, not really signal level dependent.

At my work, I get anywhere from 250kbps to 1.8 mbps. At a Target near my home, I believe there is a cell tower near by because there's always a good signal there and had speeds up to 2.4mbps.

idk what yall are crying about. that speed isnt uncommon in Los Angeles, i get 1MB regularly.

when you get north of LA sprint signal drastically improves and I get 2-2.5MB 3G speed.

Okay, sprint was voted dead last in upload and download speeds both 3 and 4 G, and this was priority contract tests nearly everyone has posted results, and agree they do not have these types of speeds ever , no less consistent the number 1 reason users all over the country are jumping ship is data realiabilty and speeds .but hell for some reason there are a few who are living in a fantasy world.

Yea, can't say he's crazy. Up in WI, I don't get very good speeds but when I go home which is outside of Chicago, my bars and service gets much better and gets me some decent speedtest speeds.

My best was 2.1mb
