Is it normal that my speed on the S3 is so slow..... Im trying to root so i could tether....but why bother.....

Results.... Ping: 785ms Download:457kbps Upload:312 kbps

3G by the way no 4g in my area...

3G: Down = 180. Up = 114 (kbps)

4G: Down = 1660. Up = 359 (kbps)

Getting a S3 is not going to increase your 3G speed. That's the carrier network (mostly). But I would say it sounds like you have nice 3G (compared to me).

DX 3g down 1 mb. S3 3g down 3 mb in the same location.

I'm getting 25 to 30 mb down and 20 mb up on 4g.

Well, I didn't get it because of speed I simply put that on there so the thread stays on this section because I want those with S3's to post here if theres any trick in increasing my speed with such a new phone. For example changing the PRL and stuff. I'm a noob at this so I just want advice. Your 3G do suck though :p but you got 4G is all good

Yea it's going to depend on your area I believe. You may want to get others to run speed tests in your area to see what they get

I get 7 mbps down and 1 up on at&t 4g in my area.

Speed is going to depend primarily on the service in your area. It's not going to be handset specific

I know. I put the headset name so it could stay in this forum so people with s3 could me ...

i been looking at PRL change but is there a way with S3?

I'd recommend against a PRL change. It's a grey area at best. Worst case scenario is that Sprint doesn't like you force roaming on Verizon's towers and cuts you off. I think it'd be best to wait for Network Vision to roll out in your area.

And, btw, your speeds beat out mine. That ping looks odd, but could be a fluke. Overall, I'm missing WiMAX right about now, but hopefully they light off LTE here soon.

Well what if I use a different Sprint PRL so it wuldnt be roaming? I heard if I used Verizon the limit is is 300mb of force roaming before you get flagged

I am getting these:
HSDPA: 7mbps down and 2mbps up.
LTE: 23mbps down and 5mbps up.
Not bad for the outskirts of the LTE zone haha.
