Spoof Tablet as a Phone? - "Your sim will only work in your phone"

I have a rooted HTC Flyer. Previously, I've used my 3 sim card in it with no problems. However now, 3 have decided to block internet access to my tablet with a message saying "your sim will only work in your phone".

I don't really see the difference since my tablet makes calls and sends texts, it's basically a large phone.

Is there any way to spoof my tablet to show up as if it is a phone and get around the block or am I stuck with no internet on it?

Is this something 3 are doing now to restrict you to one device only, and can't use their SIM on another device? I've never heard of such a thing and sounds like it sucks big time. I'd change carrier if I were you.

They're probably detecting the IMEI, so if you're using your SIM in a different device, it's giving a different IMEI to the approved device. There's no way to spoof that AFAIK, not legally.
