Sports betting debts paid by Ohtani

I sure hope that Shohei Ohtani doesn't get caught up in the mess created by his interpreter. The story breaks today and I'm not sure how it will unfold. I have mourned the ostracizing of Pete Rose most of my adult life.

You might well be right. It takes a very good friend indeed to pay off a multi million dollar debt. At least the bets weren't on baseball but were placed from a state where it is illegal to wager. I'm sure there will be more revealed as the days pass. What a mess!! I'm glad he's not my star player. Even if he's proven innocent, all of the BS surrounding the situation will be a major distraction to the team.

Stories have changed. Now Ohtani attorney says interpreter stole the money from Ohtani and Ohtani knew nothing about interpreter's gambling debt.

It will likely change a number of times. Nobody give someone access to their bank account containing millions, no way. How did the interpreter weasel payments out of the account to satisfy his gambling debts? I think there may be an ill wind blowing.

Even if he isn't squeaky clean, he is the Babe Ruth of today. It will take some serious stuff to blemish the biggest thing in baseball when it's struggling to remain relevant.

Exactly, I mean the NBA protected Michael Jordan when he was doing all his gambling and you can't tell me as addicted he was to gambling, he wasn't taking bets on his own games.

so after his statement that he gave on Monday, I am inclined to believe his side of the story. but I will await the results of investigations before I pass judgement on him.

for now he is a Dodger and I will root for him....that is until he is proven guilty of crimes or for breaking MLB rules.

It all seems so damn fishy but I definitely agree... he is innocent until proven guilty. I won't be rooting for him but certainly admire his skill.

I still have a hard time believing Ohtani due to how much money was involved and claiming he had no idea. I will trust the results of the investigation.

wells its official Ohtani is off the hook. his interpreter has just surrender to police and arrested for stealing more than $16 million of Ohtani's money.

I hope it continues to play out with no fault to Ohtani. I can't imagine losing 16 million out of my back account with noticing it but that's me.
