Spring cleaning for Android OS?

Hi! I have a Droid 2 and was wondering if there is anything I should be doing on a regular basis to clean or optimize the OS? Like on a PeeCee there are applications like CCleaner that dump garbage files and rebuild the registry. Do I need to do something like that for the Android to keep it running well? Thanks!

Nope, no need for those things, or task killers. They only make things worse. However, one thing that I do frequently is clean out my applications, and my sd card. A lot of times I'll install an app just to use it once, then forget to uninstall it. So ill go through and delete apps I no longer use.

As for the sd card, many apps, when you uninstall them, dont delete their cache/temp folders on the card. So i'll go through and clean everything up, as well as backup my pics/music to my computer.

Why is using a cache cleaner a bad thing? I have a huawei ascend which has very limited memory and is still on 2.1 (no apps2sd). Using cache cleaner seems to help. Thanks for any response, this is the first I've heard using cc is bad.

It isn't (although it may not do that much good either). A cache cleaner and a task killer are two very different things. The first clears out temporary files that have been cached by apps, the second stops apps and removes them from memory. It is task killers that are bad if used indiscriminantly.
