Sprint 3G network slow as hell!

longshot

Apparently Sprint cannot keep up with the network traffic here in WV. If you check your speeds on Speakeasy or Speedtest around 4-7:30am in the morning. Have tested 2 days in a row early and get around 1.5-2mb per sec speeds after 8am or so get .2-.5 if your lucky all day. Called Sprint and pitched a bitch about it and there is nothing they can do except wait till there is more towers. At first I thought it was something with my phone and spent hours on here trying to figure it out, but the same problem with my wifes stock EVO.

In my home 3G is damn awful

At work, I get about 1.5mb down.

I wish Sprint would beef up their network, but overall, it works fine.

UPDATE:

All day today I have had anywhere from .7 to 2.0mb Down speed. Have checked it all thru the day on all the servers on Speakeasy.net, since I am compulsive like that, LOL!! Hopefully it stays that way.

I've been happy with the speed of Sprint's network. On 3G I usually get downloads between 1mb and 2.2mb, and with 4G (although limited coverage in Phoenix) its fast.. over 7mb/sec. All of these speeds were taken from inside my apartment in the far north part of Phoenix.

here in oklahoma I used to get 1.5mbps 3g and 8mbps 4g now its 300kpbs 3g and 1.2mbps 4g lol... working for sprint I will tell you this.. alot of areas are over capacity.

OP - You should be happy that your 3g ever gets over 1 mb/s. I don't think I've seen that once here in Atlanta. Of course I don't consistently check 3g speeds. For what i do with my phone I have yet to find that the network speed is limiting or altering the way I use my phone.

In Salt Lake City here is how 3G ranks in terms of performance based upon speed tests I've done on many different android and iPhone devices.

AT&T: 2 - 3.5 mb
Verizon: 1.0 - 2 mb
T-mobile: 800k - 1.5 mb
Sprint: 20k - 1.5 mb

My 3G is slow it doesn't even play youtube properly. My Huawei Ascend on Cricket could even do that!

With no 4g on the horizon in my area and very slow 3g, I may have to switch to another carrier. It has become quite frustrating.

Yeah, but having unlimited data is nice. But it does come with a price...that being extremely slow speeds (when compared to other carriers). I remember being embarassed when my brother came to visit (he has an iphone 3g) and we both tested our data speeds, I had .20mbps he had 1.5mbps.

I was getting 4g at work, and getting speeds up to 1.2mbps at work, but that only lasted for a few weeks. Since then I get no 4g and my 3g speeds will not break over 1mbps while at work. At home I barely even have one bar, but if I walk down the block I get 4 bars. So I get just enough service that I cant leave my contract early.

But verizon has been putting up towers all around here, I know they are the "evil empire" but I am getting to the point of "if you cant beat em' join em'"

I agree, I mean I LOVE SPRINT. But, customer service never knows anything about further tower/4g upgrades. And with all of the uncertainty about clearwire and the possible abandonment of the 4g technology in favor of LTE. Its hard to justify keeping sprint service.

Needed to gripe here as I'm trying to stream MLB.TV on my phone. The speeds in the NW valley of the Phoenix metro are terrible.

I've run a couple speed tests. Full bars 3G signal.

122kbps down, 120kbps up. ping 518ms for a local server? jeez.

highest I've gotten over the last two hours was around 480kbps.

I have had terrible 3g speeds for a few months now in the New Orleans area but with the most recent PRL update 01115 I am back up to around 900kbps-1300 kbps up and 800 -900 kbps down on average with my highest at around 1800 up and 980 down and lowest at 500kbps up and 300 kbps down.

Had not really noticed the bad speed because I use wireless all the time at home and work but I just did a speed test now and I got 579kbps Down and 52kbps Up, that sucks lol

50kbps down and 38kbps up is my lowest. I don't tether.

Premium data? I've had faster throttled speeds with Cricket.
