Sprint 3G vs other phone

Sprint 3g vs Verison, T-Mobil and AT&T 3g...
I feel like tossing my EVO to the junk yard when my buddy ask me to show him a youtube clip. You know over Sprint 3G the EVO is useless on youtube. It will play and stop for 10 sec ... download and play again. It is shame to Sprint 3G. I compare with 3 other buddy from AT&T, Verison and T-mobil. Their phone are one year older than the my EVO. We all sitting in the same room viewing the same clip from youtube. None of them had any lag or freeze. My EVO will play and freeze more than 5 times before it done.

Why is that? Is Sprint going to improve thier 3G network.

Coverage isn't perfect for anyone. Ask ATT users in New York City. I never have issues with YouTube that aren't YouTube app related. Don't even use the app n go straight to YouTube website.

There's a thread on slow 3g speeds a little ways down. Have you checked the Evo versus other sprint phones? It might be the coverage. We're hoping it's because Sprint is working on their towers (expanding Wimax service), but nobody is quite sure what it is.

I've been going to one of the repair centers the past couple of days, and they keep trying to dance around the issue, but I'm heading back again today, armed with what Sprint claims 3g speeds should be: 4G Coverage and Speeds

A 3g coverage map for where I'm running these tests.

And several other tests I've run comparing my speeds to the speeds of people on Verizon's and AT&T in my location, and in a couple of other cities.

sorry ... but network will vary from location to location... from carrier to carrier. dont even use the coverage map as proof. there are too many variables in the environment that impact your signal.

that is why ... you have many choices.
and I always recommend ... researching the carrier before you research the phones.

definately sounds like coverage problem, no phone issues. I have a strong signal where i am and never waited on youtube or any videos to buffer. When i'm in an area with lower service signal sometimes it will buffer for a few seconds. Check you coverage map

I use the YouTube app (in NYC) on both 3G and 4G without a single problem. Definitely a network coverage issue, not an Evo issue.

Yup, the OP's problem is not the EVO. My (and the GF's) EVO plays YouTube in HQ mode perfectly on 3G. One of my favorite features on the EVO actually. Sprint's 3G network is great here. :)

Thank for all the reply..
I live in the twin city which is one of Sprint's big market.
I always have problem watching youtube on 3g don't matter where I am in the twin city. I almost alway rely on Sprint 4g to watch youtube; but 4g is not on many area yet including where I live. That is why I said my Evo is useless because 3g can't do the job and 4g is not there for me. Too bad I have been paying $10 for 4g for 7 months now, still waiting for 4G to come to my area. But Sprint already said 4G is officially alive in the twin city.... I affraid that is all Sprint can do for their 3g and 4g network. ........

Seems like this may be user error and not 3G/Evo problems. Have you tried clearing cache and data in manage applications of the youtube app? Then reboot the phone
