Sprint 4G Question

Forgive me for a dumb question, not good with tech kind of stuff. :P

This phone supports 4G LTE, so does this mean until Sprint switches to LTE it won't have 4G? I know Sprint is switching to LTE where I live this fall but was just curious.
 
This is disappointing. Sprints 3G sucks. When in LTE supposed to launch? There is no way to have 4G until then?
 
Sometime in the next few months they should start flipping the switches in San Antonio, Baltimore, Kansas city, Dallas, Houston and Atlanta. If you live outside of a major metropolitan area, it will probably take quite a while to be able to utilize their 4g network. No, there is no other way to get 4g lte on a Sprint phone.
 
4G LTE is launching in San Antonio, Baltimore, Kansas city, Dallas, Houston and Atlanta very soon and I've read that Minneapolis and Memphis are coming this fall.
 
I'm in Raleigh. And apparently I can use the Wimax till LTE comes here. However I don't know if phones like the EVO LTE and GSIII can access wimax since they are LTE specific

But my EVO4G still access 4G wimax here.

That's correct. If you have a Wimax phone, you can still use that network. The Evo lte and s3 don't have Wimax radios, so they will have to wait for lte.
