Help [Sprint] Android 4.0.4 Update causing signal issues!

My Samsung Galaxy S3 Updated to Android 4.0.4 this morning...and now my signal, which used to be 100% in my house...has 1 bar! *Edit* Also having major battery drainage!!!

How can this be fixed?

First, try turning off your phone, maybe even pull the battery out, and see if that fixes the problem.

Or, what is more likely the case, Sprint's tower is having difficulty. If you live in one of the areas that are getting the LTE upgrade in the near future, it's likely due to them upgrading the tower. This has caused a lot of problems with cell service in those areas. I live in the Baltimore area and my signal has been hit-or-miss in certain areas for a few days and then it goes back to being good or better than before. Since the firmware update, I've noticed my signal has been stronger overall.

So what you can do is call Sprint and see if your local tower is down or reduced capacity. I doubt they'll confirm if it's being upgraded or not, but they might. They'll likely just say they're doing 'maintenance' on the tower and apologize for the reduced signal, but say it's only temporary.

Alternating to no bars....and draining my battery looking for signal

...same problem here too. For example, I have had an Evo, Evo 3d, Evo 4G LTE (i exchanged for the GS3) all had great signal strength while at my desk at work, now that i have the GS3, I have one bar or less since the update. I was thinking about contacting Samsung later today. great handset otherwise.

I'm in Pittsburgh, so no LTE updates here...probably ever. I took out the battery and it fluctuates between nothing and a bar...my battery is going down like crazy when it usually takes forever to go down 2-3%. Can updates be undone?

No, I would talk to Sprint customer support if I were you.

I had the same problem. Emails stopped coming in, signal was minimal, and my battery drained from 100% down to 13% within 2.5 hours.

Searching for signal will definitely drain your battery.

Have you updated your profile and PRL? Try that. I don't have mine on me, but it should be in the settings menu under "system updates". That may be under "about phone".
