Sprint contract questions

longshot

Well-Known Member
Me and my wife are contract free from Sprint but we still have them as our carrier. What I was wondering is, if they change the unlimited plan and most likely current customers are grandfathered to the unlimited, would we be grandfathered over to unlimited as well? Also, if we were and we decided to renew our contracted would that make us a new customer therefore not unlimited anymore?

As far as I know, Sprint is not changing the smartphone data plans at this time. They did change the data plans for tablets and hotspots though I believe.

There is no guarantee that Sprint will grandfather plans with unlimited data. There is just no way to know at this time because no plans have been made to make that change yet.

Basically Your two year contract is up and you are on a "Month to Month" service with them (We Prepay each month) As far as Being "Grandfathered In" That would be totally up to sprint. I know when they had the Original "Sprint Premier" then change it to Gold and Silver I was not Grandfathered in even though they had already shown on my account that I had a 150 discount toward the purchase of an upgrade however Before I could use it the "New Plan" went into affect and I was stripped of my discount. So I had to wait.

The reason we pay the "10$" extra for the smart phones is to keep the service unlimited. However the world runs on the bottom line and if its not there then they will have to create it by any means necessary.

If you update your contract then that puts you under the terms of that contract. So in a way yes it would be like your a new customer. However your time with them would not go away.

LBPHeretic is correct when he says there is no way of knowing because there has been no plans made yet as far as we know.
