Root [Sprint/Cricket] Applications back out on their own

I will be in an application like messaging-typing a message. Keyboard will close on its own like the back button will be pushed. Then at times the keyboard will close, message will close and take me to conversation list, then the app will close by itself..just as if the back button was pushed each time. I can be in the settings on my phone, and it will close out like the back button was pushed. I can be in instagram looking at my feed, then it will take me to my profile....like the back button is pushed.
Phone is rooted, this did this before the root.Battery pulls, and hard reset do not fix the issue.
Any ideas?

I moved your thread to your carriers root forum here so others can help.

What rom are you on? Have you tried a different rom?
Have you tried to clear the cache and dalvik cache in recovery, then reboot to see if that helps?

It actually appears to be a hardware problem.
This happened also before the root.
I disabled the hardware 'back' button and used the onscreen buttons with my Nova launcher. Hasnt happened since.

It isn't a physical key if that's what you mean? Like the home key is
