Root [Sprint/Cricket] Blue Circle Texting Delay up to 20-40 Seconds

CindyEli

Lurker
Issue: When sending a text message I get a blue circle circling and pending to send up to 20-60 minutes to officially send even at 5 bars.

Just purchased a S3 from Sprint (in a Family Plan now, switched from Verizon)
It takes up to 40 seconds to even a minute to send a text message. This is even with 5 bars. I did everything the reps said to do (system updates/PRL, dialing # with numbers and rebooting). They even said there are NO outages in my area. Several reps told me different stories (one even wanted to charge me another 99.00 because its "defective" and I need to order a new one.)

I finally talked to a rep with logic and she said that a store is required to look at it and exchange it within the 14 day span.

I finally went into a corporate/repair Sprint and she didn't even look at it. Said "Its a networking issue and it has to do with your serial number." She then handed it over to a sales rep and told her to switch the mobile network to CDMA and she said this would help. It didn't.

Within all Sprint stores in Queens, NYC all the phones have this issue, so its just merely Sprint service. Does anyone else have this issue with their Galaxy with Sprint?

This definitely isn't normal, it only takes a few seconds for me in the south Carolina area.

Could it perhaps be because of the latest lte rollout? (Going by Google sources)

Has your 14 day return/exchange expired yet? If not I would be persistant about it as it should only take 2 to 3 seconds tops for a text to send.

I went to a rep and she said it was normal and that it is a networking issue, she denied exchanging the phone.

I tested out the phones in the store and they took the same amount of time.

Sometimes it does take a few seconds (mine just took 6 inside my home), but its annoying as hell!

If it's not only your phone, it must be due to some network issues in your city then.

I'm sorry to hear that and hopefully that gets straightened out soon :)

Yea- I think it's def the network. As I said I looked at all the other phones they all had the same issue. It takes a few seconds to send a text message. It gets annoying but whatever. I REALLY hope it isn't my phone. But Sprint and networking aren't good together. They really need to up their game, I'm new to Sprint and want to leave already. I'll get use to it.

Hopefully its not my phone and networking. Have no clue how new phone software or hardware could affect this other than damage which never happened.

I can definitely understand you getting frustrated being a new customer.

Like I said, it may have something to do with the recent lte rollout in your area.

Hopefully with some time, it'll get straightened out and soon.

I did the signal test as suggested by this website.
Results: -118 for LTE
However I looked at the Sprint site and it says that I have LTE coverage in purple in my area:
My regular signal strength without LTE is -85/-92

I did the speed test.net and got 14332 KBPS download 1764 KBPS upload.

My girlfriend asked a bunch of friends in NYC that own the Galaxy III and have different carriers and they complain about the same issue (lagging with texting and video playing). I'm getting use to the 10 second delay its not much of a big deal. The price of the plan and you are paying for the service is frustrating for all Sprint customers!
