Root [Sprint/Cricket] Error 7 when trying to update to JB

I'm following this method: Manually Update to Official Jelly Bean Android 4.1.1 on the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III - QbKing77.com.

The error pops up after "Verifying current system... assert failed: apply_patch_check..."

I've downloaded the file twice and tried twice with the same results. Before I tried, I went back to stock recovery since I'm still rooted and my flash counter was at 1. Does anyone know how to get this to work?

Hm, I'm not sure. Did you try this --> Install Adobe Flash Player on Jelly Bean devices | How To - CNET I suggested it in another thread here on AF for the S3.

Ellisker,

I wrote an app just for this purpose :).

Check-out my OTA Verifier app (free, in the Play Market; see the link in my signature).

It should tell you what component on your device is failing the assert check that the OTA's updater-script file is evaluating.

You just point the app to the OTA .zip file that you are trying to flash / install and it will analyze the same things that the OTA does.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers!
