Root [Sprint/Cricket] Identifying Custom ROM

phresh1

Lurker
Greetings,

I recently purchased a used Galaxy S3 and it seems to be rooted and running a custom ROM. The phone has TWRP on it along with the Superuser app, I just can't figure out which ROM it's running. I've searched around and tried a few apps to figure out what it's running but haven't had any luck (tried Rom Manager and GooManager).

My friend's Evo shows the custom ROM info in the 'About Software' section but no such luck with this GS3. From what I've read it seems I might be best off flashing it to a new ROM but I'm hoping not to lose everything I've got setup so far.

Here's the info in About Device:

Model Number:
SPH-710

Android Version
4.1.1

Kernel Version:
3.0.31-329968
se.infra@SEP-97 #1
SMP PREEMPT Tue Oct 16 22:37:51 KST 2012

Build Number:
JRO03L.L710VPBLJ7

Hardware Version:
L710.14

Any advice/help/suggestions are welcome, thanks!

google se.infra unless the stock kernel has the same. ;)

Thanks for the reply.

While the google results are all over the place for se.infra, it does seem to be associated with a stock kernel.

So, could this thing simply be rooted and have TWRP installed but be running a stock ROM? It says 'Device Status: Modified' but I suppose that could be due to being rooted.

My concern began after I received a notice for an OTA update and when I try it, it just boots to TWRP. Not sure how to proceed from there or it's even possible to.

can you take some screen shots? (hint: Power+Home)

Here's a shot of the 'About Device' screen. Let me know if I should post any others. Thanks!

from what it looks like, youre just rooted... however if you know a rom that you want, just flash it... is there any specific rom youd like to be on? if you want to make sure youre stock, just download the .gz file from here and flash it in odin

Thanks for the replies. Seems it is stock but rooted with TWRP installed.

I'm considering giving CM10.1 a try. Just reading up to make sure I get it right and figuring out the backup/restore stuff.

I am curious if I can update the stock firmware with Kies. Anyone know?

Cheers!

if youre flashing cm10.1 just remember to get the d2spr version. i would hate to see a valued member loose his phone... oh and make sure you have twrp installed before you flash cm10.1. remember to dl the gapps and to wipe everything

Got 10.1 RC4 installed this afternoon, along with the latest gapps. GooManager makes the process really simple. Thanks for all the help, guys. Glad to know what's what with this thing.
