Root [Sprint/Cricket] Is this the right forum for Sprint Galaxy s3?

I got some questions I was wanting to ask. Does AkoP make a rom for this phone and where can I find it? Is it by chance the same 1 used for Sprint Galaxy Nexus.?

I am very much a rookie to all this but I did flash 1 rom on my Nexus. I have to have someone else root it because I can't figure it out.

Welcome to Android Forums!
We are glad you have joined us here.

This thread was in the forum for the Australian SGS3, but I have remedied this by moving this thread into the correct forum for the issue you have with your phone. No worries!:)

Yes, there is a cm10 build for the s3 but the advantages of aosp ans aokp are kinda lost on the s3 as its so smooth and efficient thats its not really needed. Whats got you lookin for aokp my friend?

With My Galaxy Nexus when It was rooted with the stock rom what always pop up need to update. All I am really after is the ability to run wifi tether or hotspot whatever you call it., since I don't know much about this stuff and I was able to install the Akop on it myself that's why I thought I'd try again. All and all I just want a rooted phone with hotspot and no updates popping up and I appreciate any help you can give me thank you

Trouble is stock rom checks for ota updates. When update is available it tells you like thirty times a day update available. When I installed akop rom it never checked or popped up again.

Always her do not accept over the air update when rooted so I ignore it. That's why it comes back over and over and over and over. And since I have to pay someone to read it I don't want to pay them every time they update. Because I just don't understand nothing to do it myself I was lucky to flash the ROM

if you accept the update when you have a custom recovery, itll fail in the sprint variants, not sure about your phone, but is likely the same. It wont look like it failed, but worst case scenario is that it unroots your phone, then youd just hafta re-root it.

Trouble is have to drive 60 miles one way and pay twenty bucks to get it rooted or unrooted each time. Unless I get smart enough to do it. Did flash rom once. Lol

dood, rooting is super easy!! Dont let that money-sucking bastard take your cash!!! Are you on the sprint variant(i.e. does it say sprint on the back of your phone)? If so, then the root process is FLIPPIN EASY!!! Watch this video and tell me if you think im wrong...

Its just part of rooting. Clockwork is what you initially get as a recovery after rooting but we pretty much all prefer team win recovery projects' version (twrp). A nandroid is a system backup that allows you to go back to where you started b4 flashing a new OS.

Twrp is that a rom or like clockwork. Sorry so many questions. Don't want to f it up. Lol. After watching videos I may go to wifi hotspot and try it. Can I nandroid backup before I start anything so I have a way back to original?

TWRP is a custom recovery. It's better than ClockworkMod. Nandroid before you do anything is recommended if not required just in case. Nandroid's don't really back up recoveries though. But you can always switch them whenever you desire.

Don't forget, TWRP nandroids do not work in CWM and vice versa.

Dood, no reason to be sorry!! Questions not asked are the stupid ones lol anyways, there is a lot of good material to be read about this stuff and if any confusion arises, just ask!!!
