Root [Sprint/Cricket] long time andriod, new to samsung rooting

so ive had the og evo, and the evo 3d both were rooted and was a flashaholic, im definetly one for a stock rom without all the bloat, are the samsungs the same with flashing roms buy just doing threw recovery?
ive already rooted since picking it up yestereday due to my evo 3d just burnt up the screen for some reason, but this gs3 is awesome, and seems to be on and. v 4.0.4 base - l710vplg8, kern - 3.0.8-906128, it is rooted using oden and cwn, just curious as to what i can flash and not flash and what will relock the phone.. thanks for the time..
 
as far as flashing roms, there is an all things root guide with a list of compatible roms... and yeah, flash through recovery, you know the drill, back up, wipe data/factory reset, flash, reboot, enjoy.
 
You can flash mostly anything through the recovery except these (tz,rpm,sbl2,sbl3,aboot). When you say 'relock' your phone I'm assuming you mean unroot it, the only thing that will unroot you is if you flash the latest UNrooted OTA or accept the latest OTA (since you have a custom recovery, even if you accept the latest OTA it won't install because you don't have unmodified system files).

Just like on the HTC phones, you can only flash things specific to the Sprint Galaxy S 3. If it's for another variant of the Galaxy S 3 you can't flash it. I hope this helped, if I'm wrong LET ME KNOW, lol.

If you're looking to debloat, don't flash a ROM. Just get titanium backup and backup apps and remove them. The stock ROM is pretty damn amazing as is

side note, dont take the time deleting odex's yourself, things will start force closing and lag for some weird reason

i agree. I've never used Touchwiz and im amazed. There are so many features that i've never experienced. Like swipe calling from the contacts and ive always been a Cyanogen guy. (still am =p)
