Root [Sprint/Cricket] My GS3 on Sprint is asking for a SIM card

I had a question here a couple days ago asking about updating prls on cm10, so my brother reverted it back to stock using odin. I'm used to doing everything using clockwork recovery, but he said its better that way for some reason. After that it bootlooped so i opened the stock recovery and did a factory reset and it booted.

Then it started asking me to insert a SIM card, data didn't work at all. but in the about phone settings it showed it was connected to sprint and everything. so then i rooted and flashed cm10. Still the same old thing, then i restored my cm10 nandroid backup, and now i got data back and the lockscreen says "No SIM card.|Sprint" but it used to just say Sprint.

So whats going on here? does it matter and what can i do to make it back to normal?

If I do the official update can I still root the same way or pretty easily after the update?

Every version of android for the S3 is rootable and is very easy to do. On the same website provided to you, look under rooting for the Sprint S3 and it's very easy to do.
