Root [Sprint/Cricket] Root Problem

I recently tried rooting my phone but something went wrong. Everytime I do the hard boot. ( Hold down volume button, home button, and power button at the same time) the root comes up but it just says downloading and takes forever so I end up just taking the battery out of my phone. I was wondering if anyone knows the solution to my problem and if I could restart and try re rooting again without wiping my phone completely.

If I did have to wipe my phone, what could be backed up with google sync?

Any advice is appreciated.

What you did is enter download mode. It isnt actually downloading anything. You need to hook the device up to Odin and flash a custom recovery
 
The mod that I have was originally clockwork mod. Is there anyway I can get rid of this by not going into recovery or download mode? Because every time I hard boot my phone it is stuck in download mode and won't go out of it.
 
I helped the op root and we followed the guide to the t. Clockwork mod was installed but for some reason the root never took. Thus busy box and any root apps wouldn't work.

-if i remember correct he flashed a ROM but it had to many glitches so he restored his nandroid of the non root state. That was alI a couple months ago so when he described the download mode problem I referred him to you guys as I have an evo v and don't know much, if anything, about the sg3.

To get to Recovery you want to use the Volume+ (up), home and power.

the Volume- (down), home and power will put you in the Download mode-------As Rxpert stated--- not sure that's where you are wanting to go.?.?.?

Go into Recovery and check that it is actually CWM and check to see if you have SuperUser app.

(The SuperUser app may be named SuperSU)
