Root [Sprint/Cricket] Screen destroyed hidden pics folder created

rjmayers

Lurker
Ok so it's an s3 from Sprint. I got an update and noticed a new feature. Make a picture folder hidden. So i was messing around and made one hidden. Forgot to unhide. Dropped phone, screen destroyed. Plugged phone into pc usb port saw all my pics.....except hidden folder. How can I retrieve the hidden folder?

It depends on how you hid the folder. The most common way is to ass a file named .nomedia to the folder. The phone's media scan will skip the folder, so you wan't see the pictures in it, but Windows will just show the folder and the pictures (and the .nomedia file).

If you hid it come other way you may need a Linux computer to unhide it.

If you just ran an app to hide it and have no idea of how it's being hidden, you're probably out of luck, unless you can contact the app's developer and find out what it did.

It sounds to me like he took the 4.3 update and it was baked into the Rom. There are several ways to get your pictures back.. but first... when you activate a (newer) s3 it automatically asks for you to make a dropbox account... did you happen to do this?.. if so log in anf see if your automatic backups were on! If not usually you can somehow reactivate it with any part of the screen that's still responsive.. ;) If not are you any good with adb? Cuz that's a sure fire way to get anything out you might need out of the phone... without actually using the phone.. Pm me buddy. XD

When i hid the folder all i did was ckick and held the folder a few seconds and the menu poped up for the folder options and i selected hide/unhide folder. The screen is completely black, not able to use it at all. Thanks for your responses
