Root [Sprint/Cricket] SD card question

Maybe a newbie-type question since I'm still getting used to rooting, but can you put in an 8gb SD card to an already rooted phone like mine or will the phone be messed up in some way? I haven't done this, I tried searching on here and even Googling it but couldn't find an answer.

I've changed my SD card and had no problems.

Good to know so I can just pop in a 16 or 32 GB with no issue? Mainly looking for room for my music

Yup. I went from an 8gb to 16gb and my gf went from an 8gb to 32gb. No problems.
