Root [Sprint/Cricket] Should I update???

Kongoll

Newbie
Hello last night I rooted my phone and installed Jellybomb Domination 5.0. This morning I get a pop for a Andriod System Update that is 81mb. This is the message:

This software update includes new enhancements and improvements for your Samsung Galaxy S III. You will be unable to use your device for the duration of the install, which is expected to take several minutes.

My question is should I let the update go through. Someone told me it could brick my phone if I do but I wanted to make sure because the pop up is constant and rather annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do the update and let it fail. As long as your rooted and are running a custom recovery it should merely bring you to that recovery, then just select reboot and you'll not likely get the update thingy anymore

Ok thanks, and your sure it wont brick my phone?

im sure. Even if it does, you can always restore with a .tar file in odin. Its AMAZINGLY hard to permabrick these things man

Youdoofus is correct. It'll fail if you have a custom recovery and won't ask you again. I've done it before and it won't brick. It just won't install, lol.
