Root [Sprint/Cricket] should of stayed stock

I really would like to try other roms but they are too comfusing to me. im still kind of new to this. one rom says there are 3 firmwares to choose from. have no idea which to use. there are other roms with links to download but have no idea what they are for. there are just way too many things to look for and download. i have a damn headache.

There's a rom with 3 different firmwares?

Would you happen to be confusing it with kernel choices? That sounds more liable to me.

If your wanting a touchwiz rom, you should download only that.

If an aosp rom, you should download just the rom and the gapps.

You shouldn't need to download and flash any firmware unless a touchwiz roms calls for a certain firmware (md4 most recent) and your not on the current firmware it asks for.

You are totally right, i got them mixed up. My question is how do i know the one to pic? the rom im thinking of is moar, so which kernal do i pick and what other download, devhost , mirror1, or mirror2, or are they not the roms. im am so confused.

It's completely up to you, but the the 3 Kernels are built into the aroma installer, no need to do make a separate download.

When I was on moar, I always used freeza's optimized, but it should prompt you in the aroma installer to choose either stock, freeza's or ktoonsez's kernels

As far as the 3 download locations go, any of the 3 is fine, that's just in case the main hosting site temp goes down.

Correct, or if anything else, once your in the aroma recovery, you could choose to flash rom with morphology which installs the rom and add ons at the same time.

well i already flashed and setup the rom through recovery, so now i just flash the addons through recovery now also

The same way you installed the rom. When it brings up the aroma installer, it'll give you option to run morphology only

moar is kind of complicated... id recommend using something less complicated like hyperdrive since youre new to the sgs3... when i first installed it i was very confused too...

Im really thinking about going back to stock (unroot), theres not much difference to me except i dont get the updates. im not enough tech savy to know what to flash, where to flash, how to flash to keep up with the lastest. the only thing i really like about rooting my phone is some of my apps like setcpu, cache cleaner ng ( which i think is the best. i tried them all), and some others. im just not tech savy enough to get the most out of my rooted phone.

Well rooting isn't exactly for everyone to be perfectly honest.

If your not doing anything different now than you was pre root, and not really interested in flashing stock roms with new updates baked in, maybe going back to factory stock is for you :)

i just dont know enough of the advantages of being rooted. how to i know when my current roms update and how do i update them.

That normally involves venturing over to xda to see what's the current version of the rom you flashed, and checking the current version rom your on at the moment via settings>about phone.

do i have to read through the many pages or do they update the fist page. can i flash the update over top the current or do i have to go through the whole process.

which number do i look at? build number, baseband version, kernel version, or hardware version. sorry i sound so dumb. really trying to learn this and enjoy my phone better.

I'm on aosp but I think it should be build number, if it says MOAR 4.0.1, that's the most recent build as of right now.

so basically you want to go with the newest version of any rom... just follow the rom install instructions on the front page... its simple, but if performed incorrectly you can get yourself into a bootloop but these are easy to get out of... the place you want to be careful with is in aosp roms. if you flash a verizon or t mobile version youre screwed... but if you stay with TW based roms you should be fine

Thanks, ill keep that in mind. I actually tried cm roms on my other phones and on this phone but unlike everyone else i actually like Touchwiz. Well too be honest i like HTC Sense better, but i like the Samsung phones better than the other phones. This Samsung phone was so much easier to root than the huawei and the HTC phones.
