Root [Sprint/Cricket] system update

Is it OK to take the system update while rooted and with a Rom?

according to what ive read so far, it seems that youd hafta do the manual update once rooted as the auto-update wont actually do anything. There are a couple posts in here with links to the manual updates.

I did the latest update and it unrooted mine. This worked for me if you have the Superuser file still on your phone. What I did was to reroot it was put phone in download mode (volume down + home + power) start Odin, hook phone up to pc, uncheck auto reboot, click PDA and find your clockworkmod.tar file, select that, hit start. Once done pull battery start phone up in recovery mode (volume up + home + Power) release all buttons when see small blue text top left of screen. Should be in CWM recovery mode now. Find the Superuser file and load it reboot phone should be good to go.
