I Am moving my Galaxy S2 on which is rooted. How is the best way to get rid safely of all my stuff on it. I gather that if I do a complete re-set, I will lose the root as well.

So would it be safe to try and just delete my personal stuff individually then?

Not true. You may lose the superuser app but it can be redownloaded from playstore and you're back in action. A factory wipe can not touch the rooted binary. Thus your never un-rooted just lose your connection to it for a while.
