sprint ending wimax

derek2012

seems like sprint is closing up shop for wimax giving its customers a chance to upgrade to free lte device or opt out of their contract. since sprint is giving its customers a chance to opt out it must be ending their wimax for sure?

That would be nice if it panned out.

I just called Sprint to check on it and the rep I spoke with didn't know anything about it though. :(

Its in the terms and services for new contracts, so I wouldn't expect it to happen right away. They're covering their butts if they need to shut it down early

Its likely still at least a year down the road

Last I remember hearing about this is that they're going to continue to push out WiiMax until their LTE service is available in most markets or something like that. Or maybe I'm just making things up. :p

I was surprised that LTE was available in Charlotte NC. Once I learned that it was, I bought a Galaxy S3. :D
