Sprint Galaxy Tab after bypass

I ordered a Galaxy Tab and plan on using the known bypass method so I don't need to get sprint service. Will I still get firmware and Android OS updates after the bypass?

It it is pushed from Sprint you won't be able to get OTA updates. If pushed from google servers you will be fine.

Unfortunately, the bypass method does not work on the sprint version. You can put your tab in airplane mode, then turn on wifi and it will not prompt you for activation.

The bypass method worked fine on my Sprint Tab,I first copy the SprintAndroidExtention.apk to my SD card and then deleted in system/app,rebooted and it never asked to activate again.

I thought for Sprint you had to go in and remove the spint update apk and it would stop after rooting. The normal bypass with the volume rocker is what didn't work. Just make sure to back up the apk file so you can update if need be later.

I have since decided that when my Galaxy Tab comes in, I will activate it with Sprint, on a month to month plan. and just suspend service when I don't need it.

Did this work for you or did they make you sign up for a 2 yr contract? I tried to go month to month since I own the device (bought a refurb without any Sprint discount), but they still demanded a contract.

I'd love to get service activated and send them my money, but I'm not signing a contract.
