Do I need to purchase Sprint's Hotspot service since I have their unlimited data and text plan?

The unlimited plan you got at the moment is for phone only, no tethering. I'd suspect if you was to purchase the Hotspot Service, i.e. tethering, that would almost definitely be a limited data plan.
