Root [Sprint] HTC One M7 unlock & rooting

xlxmxm

Lurker
I have switched from an HTC EVO (unlocked and rooted about a year ago) to a new HTC One M7 (Sprint). Want to get this in the same state as the EVO. I believe I know how to unlock the phone using the htcdev.com site, but am a little hazy / lost on the next two steps that I did with EVO and how to perform these steps on the HTC One.
These I are the steps I did with the EVO:
1.go to HTCdev and follow directions to get your bootloader unlocked
2.install custom recovery
3.flash the su file or you can flash a rom of your choice

I don't know where to get the files for step 2. Step 3 on the EVO I just flashed the SU (I didn't need a custom ROM). How/where do I get the custom recovery file and the su file for the htc one?

Many thanks.
Steve

Here you go
Techerrata Downloads - Browsing m7wls
2.6.3.0 and 2.7.0.1 seem to be the most downloaded

here's SuperSU

clsA, thanks for the response I certainly appreciate it.

I have the HTC One PN072, which I don't follow what the various difference are with the HTC One product. I have PN072 and there are M7WLS versions as well. The Techerrata site you gave out services the M7MLS device, what supports the PN072 type devices.

The end goal for me is just to unlock the boot so I can add a super user access. I don't want to change the img. Right now the phone is at 4.4.2.

in your bootloader screen you will see you are m7_wls
Sprint ... use the recovery I posted

clsA...Many thanks for pointing that out on the boot screen, I guess I should have done that first.
I have been reading that folks with stock un-rooted kitkat (ver 4.4.2) versions of the htc one from Sprint and trying to use the twrp img file are left with the touch screen not working so you can't select 'install' from the screen on the phone during the rooting procedure.
Is this true? If so is there a work around?

after reading more on the twrp site it looks like 2.7.1.1 is the latest recovery file they've made. checking with that source to verify functionality with current 4.2.2 OS on HTC One. Version 2.6.3.0 I believe won't work as it's not written to support KitKat.

I be-leave you'll find the "latest" is not the best but go ahead
