Sprint or Boost Mobile

Planning to buy a Volt prepaid from Sprint or Boost Mobile and use it strictly for Wi-Fi and not activate the cell portion but was wondering is there a difference between the two? Does one have less bloat ware over the other or better to use unactivated. Planning to use it to stream music and as an Ipod, maybe root in the future.

if you were getting a plan i'd say boost, but since you are not i don't think it matters. i'm pretty sure they are the same until activated. As long as you don't activate it you'll be able to avoid 99% of the carrier bloat since that comes in a update when you activate.

tip: leave it on airplane mode at all times to save battery and avoid activation pop-ups. Things like wifi and bluetooth will still work fine.

Great thanks! They are both 59 on amazon so I thought why not. My old droid x is not really support for some streaming apps (spotify) so thought I might replace it.

One last question, I'll have it plugged in through the headphone jack for a speaker system I have (no Bluetooth), does it have popping noises through the jack? I tried a nokia 520 and it would pop through the headphone jack when skipping or switching apps.

I have the Boost version and use headphones and plug it into my car stereo via an aux cable and have never noticed any popping noise.
