Sprint posts its first + quater in three years

most of verizon's loss was due to one time restructure charges. nothing to get excited about there from a P&L prespective.

i've not dug into all the numbers, but i would rank the big wireliess people in this order of investment potential

Verizon
ATT

Sprint

No Verizon's loss are because its Wireless division is the only thing making Verizon any money...Landlines are gushing accounts as bad as Nextel, and Fios has yet to turn a profits...so Verizon only has one well to go to...

Sprint has 4.3B in free cash flow - That the REAL MONEY indicator...so techincally their not losing soo much money....

Sprint also paid off the rest of their debt for 2010 as well as agressively building out its 4G network...The only active 4G network mind you, as well Sprint doesn't wallet Rape its subs the way Verizon and Att do so yea margins are going to be tighter....

Don't try to marginalize what was and Excellent turn around quarter for Sprint, and it's only going to get better once Nextel is dead....Keep in mind...without that dead horse nextel...Sprint would have posted near 1M in sub gains.

do you work for Sprint? You seem to have Rosey colored glasses.

Verizon had a loss of 7 cents per share. 52 cents of that was workforce reduction, ie severace and other resturucte costs.

and oh by the way, they pay a 1.92 per year in dividends (6.6% yield)

VZ has 3.25 times the revenue of Sprint, but only twice the debt (i dislike debt big time)

from an investment standpoint, you could pick the two companies apart, and Verizon would win hands down.

Do you work for Verizon????? You seem to have "Red" colored glasses on.....Sure Verizon's in better shape...more customer, and they nickel and dime for everything...its elementry...and I was speak of Verizon Communication the Granddaddy, not just Verizon Wireless and when you look at company whole...Verizon Landline, Long Distance and Fios are NOT MONEY MAKERS! They're blackholes for cash at this point, why do you think Verizon has the need to suck every dime possible out of its wireless subs????? Wireless is supporting the entire company right now. So as much as you may try to prop up Verizon, not everything is rosey with the Almighty V....

Well according to this chart, Sprint would be the carrier to bet on right now.

i work for neither and don't directly own stock in either. i'm sure i have some in mutals, but not directly in my personal portfolio.

If i was to buy today, i would by VZ hands down.

yes the 4g & evo is a nice short term boost for sprint. verizon will be rolling 4g later this year so both will be back in the same boat.

btw, page 14 shows an operating profit for the wireline business.

imo, verizon has a better base to start from and imo, has a higher ceiling. they have wireless, and will be adding 4g this year. plus they have fios which is pretty bad ass.

once again, as an investor, i would buy VZ over S.

your results may vary.

Well if you want to buy into a stock that doesn't go anywhere....VZ another MS it doesn't move. The Chart doesn't lie...
