Root [Sprint] [ROOT][CWM] Flashing CWM on JB devices

rbheromax

Android Expert
ALSO A ROOT METHOD FOR JB UPDATE

I've heard that JB devices after flashing via Odin would reboot and have stock recovery.
I believe I have found the problem:

The latest update by Samsung will force re-install stock Android Recovery every time you boot up Sammy's ROM, so CWM will not stick.

You'll have to push CWM with Odin in download mode (Power + Vol Down), uncheck Auto Reboot. Once it says PASS, unplug cable, remove battery, and enter Recovery (Power + Vol Up) as you normally would.

xInterloperx's CWM: http://www.oudhitsquad.com/android/Samsung/SPH-L300/Mod/recovery/CWMR-v6.0.2.8-Victory.zip
xInterloperx's TWRP: http://www.oudhitsquad.com/android/Samsung/SPH-L300/Mod/recovery/TWRP.2.4.3.0.tar

Then flash the file root file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/retosl9gohrtfhg/superuser.zip

After flashing of zip, "SuperSU" by Chainfire and "Superuser" by ChainsDD will both be installed, just go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, and un-install the one you don't want

Taken from S3 forums: http://androidforums.com/sprint-cri...ngs-root/588621-odin-pass-cwm-but-no-cwm.html

Confirmed working!!! :D

still no root :(

You need to install a Root manager, like Superuser by ChainsDD or SuperSU by Chainfire
I forgot to include either in the zip, will fix that later :p

edit: fixed zip, just flash the above zip, it will delete my old zip's files and reinstall them with a choice of root manager

do you want me to put it in a zip file for you. i backed my rom but what was weird was that instead of one backup folder, it created 4 back up folders. idk you you want to look into that i give you a link to the files. sorry im late i work overnight so i sleep all day lol

I need the whole Clockworkmod folder, I made this error back when I had my victory and made a stock backup. CWM 6 does some stufff unlike previous versions. It splits the backup over several folders but the main folders have .dup files that link to others, I need those others, so rar or zip the /sdcard/Clockwork? folder just whatever is that whole folder, and be sure to delete any thing titled data cause that can lead to someone picking up this upload and hacking you real bad, just a tip

Not it, look for like "clockworkmod/blobs/" for something like system.img or system.ext4.img, that is the file that I need
This is why I hate CWM6, different way of doing things
