Sprint S4 to metro?

Just bought an S4 for $50 :D Can this be activated with metro easily or will I need to find someone to flash it?

no, the note 2 was a 2012 phone. for cross gsm you would need a sprint note 3, htc one, s4, im not sure on g2 and moto x is probably not. as i said its for edge, 3g, and hspa+. dropping a few hundred on a sprint flagship to get "4g" on metropcs doesnt sound overly good, when for a bit more you can get a tmobiel lte compatible one.

CDMA devices tend go cheaper because some don't know that they are world phones (some) the sprint and Verizon variant tend to be cheaper especially with a bad esn

absolutley, i dont know however if its a bad esn if its imei gets blacklisted as well. so that might be something to watch out for :/

This is new terminology for me lol. How exactly is that done?

There is a card that has diffrent colors not an sd card. This card goes into your phone and you have service. Most carriers with gsm you pop their sim into your phone anddd service metro feels the need to know your phones id before it works I guess its a relic from cdma .

metro needs to have the IMEI yes, but by default the sprint s4 is sim locked. you need to unlock it, this can be done multiple ways.

1) activate it on sprint for 90 days and they will unlock it
2) pay a sim unlocking site
3) run a tool on xda that will do it all for you

from there the device is sim unlocked for international use, a few additional changes on xda are needed for tmobile/att use.

I will have to ask the lady I bought it from if she had it activated for 3 months or not. It was her 8 year old sons phone and he only used it for games lol. I searched around a little bit but I was only able to find an xda thread walkthrough for a different baseband

Well call up sprint fib a bit ask them if you can unlock the phone to use international
Who gives an 8 year old a 600 dollar piece of equipment... Answer a person who sells it for 50 bucks

yea youll need to revert the radio. and wont matter if she di or not, it needs to be active for 90 days then call sprint and ask.

Ill see if i can find out how to revert and ill ask today also.

She gets him anything he wants. He forgot his pass code to unlock the s4 so I told her I could reset it and she said he's getting the iPhone 5c so he won't need it anymore. I said 'that's..... great, here's $50' haha.

not doubting you lol, but how sure are you on that?

Doesn't make sense for a cdma to share a list with gsm at all. And most people don't know if its a world phone or not just know its a sprint galaxy phone. And on metro site they really don't mention bringing phones from sprint or verizion. Just unlocked gsm phones. But if it becomes an issuse that they become aware they may start sharing a list.

But terms of sureness about sixty five percent

Trading an S4 for an Iphonie 5?

Yeah, that pretty much explains it all.

The account wasnt/isnt in your name sprint wont give you the unlock code for it even if she had it active that long. She will have to call. Also at least with the htc one with sprint its not just a matter of unlocking the sim card for it to work on u.s. gsm networks. The sprint htc one was a pain in the butt to unlock once they updated it. Now not sure about the s4 but sprint has a history of locking down the gsm radios in there devices not to be used on native gsm towers.
