Help Sprint S5 stuck on recovery booting

Need help. My phone keeps getting stuck on recovery booting (blue text). I can get into download mode. I tried flashing stock tar file thru odin and nothing. I got the tar file from sammobile.

I also tried going into download mode and restarting from there but it keeps going back to recovery booting. At the recovery booting stage it reboots after a couple seconds than goes back to recovery booting.

The phone model I have is the Sprint G900P.

I tried looking thru XDA and android forums but couldn't find anything.

You appear to have a previously rooted Sprint carrier branded, minority variant, model G900P. If the phone was previously rooted, did you correctly remove the root prior to flashing the stock Samsung firmware?

Also, are you flashing the correct firmware for your models Product code as there are 4 different versions of each Sprint firmware?

To locate your Product code, see #1.8 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

I actually don't remember what I did with this phone. I switched to t-mobile awhile back, but I couldnt handle the coverage. So I was going to switch back to sprint and use my s5. I should of looked at your guide before I used Odin. I didn't know there were four different versions, but thank you for replying so quickly.

Since I can't use the phone, i can't type in *#1234# to figure out which version I should use. Is there another way or do you recommend me trying all four different versions and see which one boots?

Since, as you say, you do not know your model's Product code and cannot type it in, which wouldn't work on the Sprint variant, or download Phone Info, you seem to have no other choices I am afraid. You may be able to narrow it down if you knew if it was a Sprint CDMA or Boost mobile or VMU or XAS, (whatever the last 2 are!).

I also tried using Samsung kies 3, but I have no idea what my serial number is. The program won't let my go any further. I looked under the battery, but it's not there. It only shows my imei, dec, and hex.

I know its the sprint cmda version because i bought it from best buy for sprint.

I think that's the one I already downloaded and tried, but just in case ill try it again. Ill post what happens after the download finishes and I flash the firmware. Thanks again.

Sorry, I just saw this, but idk if it makes a difference. When looking at the download mode it says reactivation lock (KK) off. Does the kk mean kitkat? If it does shouldn't i be flashing kk 4.4.4?

I tried flashing the version you gave me, but it didn't do anything. It keeps getting stuck on the recovery booting, after the firmware flashes. :(

As per post #2... Did you unroot your phone properly, (which method did you root with originally?), and are you sure that you are flashing the correct firmware? As per post #8, did you wipe the cache partition or FDR your phone after flashing?

I honestly don't remember which method I used to root and Unroot. I am flashing the correct firmware. It's the one you give me. How do I wipe cache partition or FDR? After flashing the firmware the phone restarts and goes back to recovery booting.

It won't go into recovery mode. After flashing the phone. I hold the the 3 buttons simultaneously. This green line comes across the device and it goes back into recovery booting.

When you were rooted, did you change/flash the bootloader or .PIT files or flash a custom ROM?

No. I didn't flash a custom rom. I could've changed the bootloader and .pit files by accident. I don't remember changing anything tho. I'm ready to call it quits tho. :(:(

Nope. I'll try that after work. I'll also try contracting sprint to see if they have any idea about the serial number so I can use the kies program. Thanks a lot for your help. I appreciate it. :):)

Hello and welcome to Android Forums tomihayez21 :)

I don't know how anyone can, "accidentally", download and flash a .PIT file. These .PIT files are both model and firmware sensitive and I strongly advise against using them unless you know exactly what you are doing as they can render your phone unusable. Hopefully, you followed best practice and made a full nandroid backup prior to making any modifications and can therefore revert back to the backup. Failing that, you will need to do a search and locate the correct .PIT for the G900P model and the stock Sprint firmware that you are on and flash it with Odin, (I honestly do not know what your Best Buy guy is talking about with Korean Odin!). If you were previously on Sprint Android 5.0 firmware, do not try downgrading as this may not be successful it would seem.
