Help [Sprint / Solved] How to use 3G?

HM08

Newbie
I'm really confused on this. I had the phone activate on Saturday but for some reason the phone will only use Wi-Fi. Is there something I have to do for 3G?

Leave your house! The phone will always default to WiFi as long as you have WiFi on and are near a 'remembered' WiFi spot. If it's a true issue, you can never use data while you are out and about, it may be an issue with your particular phone. What country are you from and who is your provider. Maybe someone else here has had the same issue in your area.

Sprint in the U.S.

I tired that. I go to the park a mile from my house everyday it still tries Wi-Fi only.

Is mobile data enabled? Drag down your notification bar and make sure Mobile data is green by scrolling to the right. It has an up/down arrow icon.

I'm also changing your topic title to reflect that it's Sprint that you use.

Yep, mobile data is activated.

Sorry for the double post but I figured out the problem! A registration error kept popping up on my phone all of a sudden so I called a Sprint Store. According to the person I talked to on the phone, whoever activated my phone royally messed up. They fixed my plan and now 3G is working.

Thanks for the help though guys!

Ah good! The next thing I was going to suggest was to call Sprint. Sometimes they can reset your device on their end (just network settings, not any apps or anything on your device) and it sometimes gets these errors back in line.

Also, as a FYI, there's an Edit button should you want to add anything to your post. I've merged your two posts together so it has the effect that you were looking to do for yourself. I hope this helps you in your future posting experience :)
