SPRINT Stupid change of corporate discount policy - Worth Leaving?

Well if you leave, you'll find out you're gonna get less for your money with Verizon. Living in Milwaukee I found no difference in coverage and quality on Verizon. Don't think for one second that when LTE comes out you won't get charged extra for it as well. If there's one thing Verizon is good at, it's charging for more, for the same service because they can. Oh btw if you leave Verizon early, they charge $350 ETF per phone and it goes down like $10 a month.

If you get crappy coverage at home, at least Sprint will send you a airana for free and no monthly fees. Good luck trying to get Verizon to do the same. They won't give it for free, Sprint will.

I already get an airrave for free. I've been a long time Sprint customer and haven't been with any other provider ever. We'll see how it goes down before the weekend.

Just wanted to direct those of you who are more than a little angry about this to the appropriate forum message on the Sprint site here. There are plenty of stories from Sprint users who were taken by surprise by these increases, people who are fed-up with so-called 'contracts', and wildly different responses from Sprint and excuses why they did away with the discounts.

In my case I just signed up at the end of July for 5 lines. Whatever notice that supposedly went out in July missed me. The salesman never told me my discounts would only be good for a couple weeks, and even Sprint's phone rep never told me when I called to get my discounts started. My first bill in August included all my discounts, the current bil shows lines 3-5 at full price.

Users are being told all different things. Reps are promising to re-instate discounts that never happen, excuses are wide and varied, Sprint CS is lacking at best, but most people seem to be able to get out of their 'contract' without penalties, although sometimes it is taking quite a bit of arguing.

I hope everybody will take a little time to check out the conversations going on at the Sprint forum and post your own experiences.

Is it possible to simply have multiple accounts with no more than two lines on each account? I assume you'd at least have to keep the accounts on separate credit cards.

This just seems like a measure to block people from trying to take up huge chunks of data through one heavily discounted plan. Sprint must either have some data showing that accounts with more than 2 phones on it consume more data or they just want to show that they possibly have more subscribers than their official numbers say. It would look better to investors if you could say 2 or 3 subscriber accounts instead of now 1 account with 5 phones on it.

Nothing anymore is truly for the consumer so I just see Sprint trying to make money differently than the other carriers off it's existing subscriber accounts. They should have at least allowed people to maintain status quo through the end of the original contract.

I was actually considering doing this, but the savings wasn't there if I did this, so I'm still weighing my options.

For the amount of money it just does not seem like it is worth the hassle to move.

All companies do this.. Verizon nickels and dimes our accounts to death the same way..

Did you guys miss the 90 million dollar pay out on the news from Verizon?

You want move to a company that defrauded all of its subscribers for years?

Hell at least Sprint is being upfront about it..

I agree the two Major carriers are Verizon and Sprint and to be honest Verizon's service for us especially in the Northeast has been dreadful as of late.. we just moved 40 more lines over to Sprint from Verizon because the service guys would not stop complaining.

While I understand your upset, it is company culture and Sprint seems to be the lesser of the evils and a more economical decision..

Yeah, there are a couple factors that are making me lean towards staying, despite the situation. One of the main ones is convenience, which it wouldn't be if I did move the 3 lines over.

What's up my fellow EVO peeps? Hope you all are enjoying your phones.

I need some advice regarding Sprint's new corporate discount policy. According to the new policy, if you have a family plan that is receiving a corporate discount (whatever percentage it is), the discount will no longer apply to the other lines on the family plan (only the primary account).

For some, this might not be a huge amount. For me, it was between $10-15 per month, which basically paid for one of the two $10 premium data fees (EVO and Epic) that got added onto my bill.

I think it was already ridiculous that they added the $10 per month premium data fee (but I was fine paying it because of the EVO), but now to take away $10-15 discount that I was receiving might be worth leaving for me. Verizon has 3% higher discount for the company I work with (which, quite frankly, is extremely important for all the wireless providers).

I've been with Sprint since 99/00 and despite having gone through SO many ups and BIG downs (e.g. they released my original number into a general pool by ACCIDENT while upgrading my phone and also charged me triple on a bill for 1 cell phone), I stuck with them.

This new policy has more significant long term effects for me. Just wanted to get some advice from my fellow EVO members. Do you think that the EVO is worth sticking around for or should I pack my bags and move to another provider that'll likely give me a better deal (like Verizon, which has a higher discount percentage)?

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

I would wait until next year when Verizon releases the HTC thunderbolt. It's going to be phenomenal.

Hahaha...wow, this is an old thread.

I'm not leaving anymore. The retentions department reverted the discount back to how it was before, which resolved the entire issue.

I do agree that the thunderbolt is going to be nice, but I'm holding off until the 2nd gen EVO comes out.

1.. next year?? guessing you mean next month.

2... thunderbolt is the same as the EVO... with few minor differences.

i think that is great for me and my EVO...
that next month Verizon is releasing their next great superphone.... and it is the EVO...8 months after the EVO release. So I feel that the EVO just got a bump in life expectancy.

Look at the date of his post.
