[Sprint] Switch back to Sprint PRL after using Verison PRL

slyd

I'm on the Team EOS jellybean rom and am going on vacation where Sprint service is non-existent but I have the verizon 00001 prl file that I am thinking about using. The EOS jb rom has the capability to flash the prl using a PRL write command after you rename the 00001.prl to test.prl. The PRL write command is built in to the rom .
Before I do this, I am wondering how I switch back to the Sprint prl. I have heard that on some roms you cannot simply go in to settings and update the prl like I did on the evo og while running a sense rom. When I look at the EOS rom PRL settings in about phone, I see the PRL but nothing happens when I click on it I'm not sure if nothing happens because my PRL is up to date or because there is no way to update the prl OTA. If I had an older prl or the verion prl could it be updated by clicking on the prl and having an update option pop up?

My question is can I simply update the PRL or do I have to go thru the same steps of renaming a Sprint 25005 prl to test.prl and then using the PRL write command as I did when I set up the verizon PRL?

EDIT- I found my own answer. Settings/system/sprint settings/sprint updates/update your profile and profile.

Sorry so late to respond! Was about to do some research before answering your question and realized you got your question answered at XDA.

If you don't mind posting the answer you found in this thread so people having the same question/issue in the future can easily reference, that'd be great!

The rom I am using (Team EOS jellybean) has the PRL hack built in. Not all roms have this built in but there's a thread on xda on how to do this on your g-nexus if it does not have it.
Here's how I am able to connect to the Verizon 3g towers using the 00001.prl with the Team EOS rom.
1. Download the 00001.zip from the following url. I've heard you can also use the 00002 prl and that it does not matter which one you use.
[How To] Upload a custom PRL to your Epic Touch 4G - xda-developers
If I screwed up this link, you can just google verizon 00001 prl.
2. Unzip the 00001.zip and extract the 00001.prl. Rename the file to test.prl and place at the root of your sdcard.
3. To activate the Verizon 00001 prl, on your phone, go to settings/system/sprint settings/write prl and click on "write prl". The phone will reboot and you will be roaming on the verizon prl. You can check that you are roaming on verizon 00001 prl in settings/about phone/status. Mine just says 1 not 00001.
4. When you want to go back to the Sprint PRL, go to settings/system/sprint settings/sprint updates and select "update prl".

Be aware, your phone will not say roaming even tho you are and I've heard if you download more that 300 mb/month you may get a cease and desist warning letter from Sprint. If you abuse it you can get kicked off Sprint.

Thank you for the explanation, I'm sure many will find this helpful! I didn't know the EOS JB ROM had that ability.....I ran their ROM when they first dropped it and haven't ran it since....I may have to check em' out again.

I'm happy with the EOS rom. Everything works and battery life is good with the the Lean exp 230 kernel.

Cool beans.....I saw you posted a question about color control at XDA. Are you using a third party app such as Franco's kernel app to control the kernel? Or just native CPU control?

I am using the CPU control that came with the ROM.
I asked you about color before and you posted all the settings. Thanks for the reply, but I could not for the life of me see how to change any color settings so I hesitated to ask you again...
I was confused about your previous reference to the Franco app and in the end thought I had to be on the Franco kernel or Trinity to make color changes. Then today I was reading the Lean thread and saw color changes were part of the kernel.
I now think I need to go find the Franco kernel app. Then do these color adjustment have to be redone after I flash a nightly? The nightly's are kind of killing me. After one nightly my battery life went to heck and I finally fixed it by relashing the rom, gapps and the kernel. Then another time I lost mms due to a bad download on goomanager. Struggled with repeatedly dirty wiping (my son sent me lots of pictures :-)), finally a new rom download and clean wipe fixed the mms. Kind of a pain when changes come out every other day... Anyway, I digress. About the lean color changes. I'll go looking for the Franco Kernel app.

Yeah, it can be a pain when the Dev's are releasing nightlies.....Just so you know, Franco's app will remember the color settings even after you flash a new nightly. So you're good there. You can find Franco's app here. Let me know when you dl it and I'll hook you up with some really good color settings.

Moving forward, please don't hesitate to ask me anything at all, at any time! Even if it's multiple times lol! I don't mind at all and I'm here to help, PERIOD!

Okay. I downloaded the app. Color settings please.

Set the color multipliers (sliders) to 120, 130, 200 then Red -10, Green 0, Blue 2, and set omap4 to 1.4. Make sure you check "Set CPU Settings On Boot". These are my favorite color settings....It's a little dark and takes some getting used to, but the colors really rich, and the white's are very white (as they should be lol).

Let me know what you think!

I'm not using set cpu. I have the native rom CPU system performance set to 'set clock values on boot'. Good enough or should I download set cpu?

You don't have to do any of that because you can control the CPU with Franco's app too! My settings are min. 230 max. 920, screen off max frequency 230 with ondemand gov.

Wow! Wish I could flash this on my Nexus 7.
Thanks a million!

So if I flash a nightly, these stay but if I wipe completely and clean flash, I need to reset? Or just restore by TB.

Np. Yes, they stay after flashing a nightly. Well, when you flash a nightly, the kernel the nightly comes with (stock usually) will overwrite lean. So what I do when flashing nightlies is, flash ROM/Gaaps/Lean kernel, reboot. As long as you have the Franco app installed, the color settings should kick it momentarily after boot.

What are your initial thoughts on the colors?

Incredible colors! Wish I could get these colors on my Nexus 7.

Thanks a million and have a good evening!

You too, and you can have them on your N7 I believe....I'm pretty sure but let me ask someone that has one rooted.

On another note, once you've been on these colors, you'll realize how yellow and ugly the stock whites are lol! You can't go back to that!
