[Sprint] tweets asking how they can provide an even better experience...build-a-phone?

So I just saw a tweet from Sprint asking people to tell them what they can do to provide a better expereince. I think its great when a company goes grassroots and gets the actual users of the product involved.

Like many, Im waiting on all these new phones to come out so I can read user reviews and see which one I want to spend my money on in hopes of not getting something that I will hate 3 months later and be stuck with for 1-2 years. So I got to thinking...how long before Androids will be built to our requested specs?

I love the thought of the new 3vo due to its hardware but the 3D isnt make or break with me. 4.3" screen is nice, but Id rather have something in the 4" range. I love sense though, but not the preloaded bloatware. Many companies now offer ways to customize your own products, like dell computers, nike shoes, etc. Android is all about customization, so why not offer a way to build your own?

Sure it might take a bit longer to recieve but if I could log in to HTC/Sprint and build an Evo with the dual core processor, 4" screen, rear 8/front 2 mp camera, sense UI, sd card storage, no bloatware, etc Id pay a bit more then $199 for it. Mainly because I wont worry about in 6 weeks an even better phone coming out. Sure evenually technology will change and your phone would be outdated, but for the most part, what we want is out there, its just that no one phone has everything we need. Either one has great features but no sd card, one has everything but screen too big or doesnt have hdmi out, one has everything but not dual core, you get my point. Just seems like the next logical step in cell phones. I mean, why keep making a gazillion different models (and coming up with all these names is like playing words with friends) if people could just customize them?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I posted here cause Im mostly involved in the 3vo/sgs2/photon page...and this would solve those issues on waiting.

I love the idea, but think it is probably cost prohibitive. Many Android nuts, such as you or I, would probably pony up for EXACTLY the phone we wanted, but I think that the masses would not want to spend the jingle to get something custom. Not to knock your idea, but I don't see it coming to fruition.

As fast as new phones come out, yearly upgrades. Full contract price upgrades if you pay more than a certain amount. They used to have that I believe. I would even pay an extra $5 a month to be able to do that.

I hate to say this on an Android forum, but I think Sprint needs to offer the iPhone. That's the major missing platform on Sprint, and it's costing them customers.

Plus having the iPhone on Sprint will cause Android to be even more competitive, which is great for us customers. I love Android because it is so competitive and does what iOS does not. But it would be nice to have the iPhone on Sprint.

The other thing Sprint could do is have the T-mobile version of "even more plus", where you could buy a phone for retail, or on eBay/ Craigslist, etc., and then have a lower month-to-month bill with Sprint, all without a contract, of course. That would be awesome.
