[Sprint] Update LG8

I got my S3 yesterday afternoon and live between Dallas and Fort Worth where there should be pretty good LTE coverage according to the map. I was getting extremely frustrated that I couldn't get it ANYWHERE as I was driving around yesterday. Only after I got home and started going through the menus did I see LTE was off. Can't wait until I get to work to see how fast it is - of course I don't get it at home! At least the default will be on for the new update.

yeah my S-voice is pretty blah at the moment, sure would be sweet if it worked a bit better.

My smart stay is totally hit or miss, looks like this should address that also.

Single picture MMS no longer displayed as slideshow? Please, PLEASE tell me that it means I will be able to see the pictures in full-size and/or zoom.

Yeah, I'm in Houston. the signal sucks. 4G is terrible. It's hit or miss....
I was told by cs that LTE won't be ready here until august 15th. I can't believe how bad 3g and 4G is....

Ready to got to at&t if sprint doesn't get the towers up very soon....

Unless you're on wifi, data is virtually unusable.....

Anyone know how to force this update to happen? My dad got it a few days ago but i still don't have anything despite hitting every option under the System Update menu. We bought our phones on the same day and live in the same house...the only difference is that his is blue and mine is white, which shouldn't be important

Update came in this morning (Iowa cIty). So far I'm very impressed. Keyboard improvements are very welcome. Finally the most likely predictive words appear first in the list! Keys appearance is more appealing too and seem more responsive and accurate. Smart stay is better too in low light. Update: I went up to add my location for update and the 'i' in city would not go lowercase no matter what I did. Ugh!

P.s. I don't understand the Sprint basher above. 4G is rolling out as I type this. Perhaps a competitor's troll getting paid to diss. Sad.

Did the update give anyone 3g or 4g? Cause neither worked. Or maybe the update is to have signal so you can make a damn phone call..... Lololol

Samsung rolled out an update to my Sprint Galaxy S3 phone today, August 5th,2012. Does anyone know the details of the update? Thanks!

(Only change I have noticed so far is in the pull down screen, there is now a brightness slider)

I noticed that they also uninstalled the stock browser. To me, it seems like a pre update for jellybean to make the actual update easier. That's what they did for the s2's when they got ics.

The Sprint update, version L710VPLG8, has been rolling out for more than a week. See this announcement.

Of the several changes, I think the most significant is the optimization of LTE connections. (Of course this matters most to those in areas where LTE is being introduced right now.) I recently tested it in the only city I know of where Sprint's LTE network is almost completely built out. The update made all the difference.

Maybe the update is for the phone to actually work for a change........

Actually, this firmware update was like night and day for testing new Sprint's LTE network, which was the object of your earlier rant. (Unfortunately you did not keep the phone and the carrier long enough to experience the improvement.)

In a city with well built-out LTE coverage (Waco) the phone running the prior firmware (version L710VPLG2) could not detect a strong LTE signal for me at all. But after applying the update, I found very satisfactory LTE coverage all over the place in half a day of deliberate testing. Other users in Waco report similar results in serious forums. (You would still not be expected to get such complete coverage in Houston, because the LTE network there is not yet so built-out as it is in Waco.)

The Sprint GS3 is a keeper, and I look forward to the rollout of Sprint LTE coverage in my own city.

My wife got her system update on Friday and I still haven't gotten mine. Anyone know why the update isn't available for me yet? You'd think it would hit us both at the same time.

OTA update rollouts are essentlally random. You can download the update file from several forums and apply it manually. It is not difficult.

This update seems to have added the brightness adjustment bar to the notifications menu. Is there a way to turn this off? Having my brightness set to auto, I have no need for this. The more they keep adding in there, the more cluttered the notifiations area feels.
