[Sprint] Where to buy an EVO if it's not upgrade time yet?

Being a Sprint Premier customer, I was able to upgrade from my Samsung S30 to an Evo at twelve months. Unfortunately, my wife who upgraded at the same time I did last year, isn't eligible until October 2011. She turns green every time she sees me using my Evo. She is eligible for the $75 upgrade credit but not the $100 mail in rebate which makes the Evo $450 - $75 = $375. I would pay to make her happy but she won't do it.

I tried to talk to Sprint customer service explaining that considering she has had her line with them for twelve years I thought maybe they would move up her date a little. No dice. Won't move it a day. Then I took the angle of you will get most of it back in the monthly $10 4G fee. Again no dice.

Anyone have any suggestions for either getting them to move her date, give her a bigger discount, I would be happy with the extra $100 mail in rebate they give you at upgrade time, or another retailer (not ebay) to puchase at?

No suggestions on Sprint. I even tried back dooring it by picking up the phone from HTC and saving the $100 that way. No deal. As soon as they know you're an existing customer the price gets jacked up $100. I'm pretty resourceful, and couldn't make it work. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread to see if you get that Gold Egg. Good Luck!

Late Thought...

If you start a new account for your wife with a new number and eat any early termination fees...that'll get the phone at the reduced price. Not expecting that to be an option though...

That'd defeat the purpose of getting the phone at a lower price, lol. Pay more to get the phone for less. lolwut

Also... are you an advertiser/rep for Klipsch? If so, I ****ING LOVE Klipsch. Better than Bose, by far.

Not a rep for Klipsch...just a fan of their product line. I use a pair of klf20 towers as my main speakers, and the rest are all from the original Reference line. I've never liked Bose, and I used to work for them. You will never see Bose equipment anywhere within comparison distance of any other products. Hmmm...wonder why?

Call Sprint and ask to speak to someone in the retention department. Explain to them that you would like to upgrade your wife's line. Ask them about the early device upgrade. Basically you pay $55 and they'll move your two year upgrade date to present day. I was able to do this on my line.

Stevcha,

Great advice. I called Sprint and asked for the retention department. After explaining the situation they hooked me up with customer sales. They let me move up her upgrade date for $105. I can get her an Evo for a whole lot less than $375. It will take 24 hours for the account to be revised.

Never knew you could do this...

I guess the amount you pay is dependent on how far your upgrade is. You can check to see if the upgrade went through by checking Sprint's online tool:

https://manage.sprintpcs.com/specialoffers/RebateWelcome.do

It should show that she's eligible for the $150 upgrade. Then I would keep an eye out on wirefly, best buy, radioshack, for some good deals.

Might want to checkout FatWallet to see if any good deals come up for the EVO:

Still not there. Was told it would take 24 hours. Will probably order from Newegg $179.99, no MIR, no shipping, no sales tax to Washington State. I can maybe find it a little cheaper if I jump through hoops but I always trust Newegg.

May try to intercept the notification e-mails and surprise her with it when it shows up. It would definitely increase my hubby point balance during a stressful time of year. :D

Edit:
Discount showed up last night, well before the 24 hours I was told to expect it in.

Check the buy/sell/trade forum here or at SprintUsers.com as there are usually a few to be found for sale. Or HowardForums.com.
