VM runs on sprint towers, while ST runs on any of the big 4 carriers depending on which phone you choose. You can also bring your own GSM device and pick either T-Mobile or AT&T and run on their towers. I don't think ST allows usage of LTE networks, but will allow you to use the HSPA+ networks. ST promotes unlimited data, but it's really not and it's kind of wonky. They ban streaming and tethering, and there's a daily cap as well as a monthly cap, though the monthly cap isn't concrete. People have found ways to avoid these caps by changing proxy settings or something along those lines, but I wouldn't push it with high monthly usage.
Data caps seem to be an issue more with those using the AT&T phones/SIMs. I've done some serious amount of data on my Verizon phone with no issues. I've heard the same with T-Mobile SIMs. Although, I do think I've heard T-Mobile users often say that after a couple of Gigs, it significantly slows down (but not turn off).
Yah if I was to go to straight talk than I wouldn't want to get a T-mobile phone. Do they offer any Verizon phones through ST? My data is okay on VM but not the best..
Yes, they have 2, the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, and the LG Optimus Zip.
These are 3g only phones, so while you will have a lot better coverage, the speeds won't be that impressive.
Can you use the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on ST? if so how would I do that? The best data speeds are going to come from ST by using a gsm phone that is compatible with AT&T or T-Mobile's HSPA+ network. T-Mobile will have the best speeds possible, but AT&T will have the best coverage between the two. The best part of the GSM aspect is that if you don't like any of the phones they offer, and don't mind spending a little bit extra, you can buy any unlocked GSM phone and it will work as as long as the frequencies line up. The Nexus 4 is probably the best because it is penta-band, but is pretty hard to come by (Demand is very high). If you can get your hands on a GSM Galaxy Nexus, that will work as well. I say those two because they're probably the two cheapest unlocked phones, but are very good as well.
